Paleo Magazine’s Best of 2012!
As a rule, I don’t care much for popular votes. A whole bunch of unqualified people vote for something they know very little about – whoopdy doo. But even worse are those Facebook contests which require that you recruit everyone you know to vote for you. Basically, whoever has the most “friends” wins. So it’s not really about being the best at whatever title is up for grabs, but about how popular you are. Double whoopdy doo.
Without actual experts judging the nominees, the winner could be anybody.
This Paleo Best Of Survey looked pretty cool to me though – maybe just because I’m nominated as one of the best Paleo parenting websites – but also because I know that the majority of people judging are experts.
Also because the categories are so Paleo-all-encompassing that people can actually learn a thing or two about current Paleo stuff just by seeing the nominees. On top of that, the categories and entries themselves are pretty cool. Here’s a little sample of what you’ll see:
Online Food/Product Supplier
Favorite Cooking Fat
Science Centered Blog
Best New Paleo Book of 2012
Paleo Event
Did you know about all that stuff? I didn’t. And this is just the tip of the iceberg. There are 31 categories in all!
So, head over there and vote for your favorite stuff, people, and websites.
(I’m bummed that Gnolls.org didn’t show up on the Favorite Science Centered Blogs. J. Stanton, you’ve got my vote!)
Did you vote? What was your favorite entry?

Ooo. US Wellness Meats inability to get through customs makes me always sad-faced. Ooooo! One of them *is* Canadian!
You are my favourite, ever!

That was fun!! Voted for you of course. It’s true that the people voting will be “experts” in a way. If I hadn’t made a recipe or used a service then I didn’t vote for that question and I think that that’s what most people will do.

Same here. I didn’t vote for everything. Glad I didn’t get to the end and see a message reading, you must select an answer… That was smart.

I was also expecting that message to pop up!

Awesome. Clicking my favorite cooking fat, which is lard BTW, made me really happy. It’s not everyday you get to take a survey that’s actually fun! I did have a hard time choosing my “in the fridge at all times” though… grass-fed butter, bone broth and kombucha are all staples! Also voted for you Peggy, as I truly do love your blog.

Thanks Laura! I agree. The survey was fun. It’s as though it were designed for me. What’s my fridge staple? That’s awesome! I had a hard time choosing too…

Peggy:
Thank you so much for the vote of support! But don’t worry: I’m not in this for the awards.

I know you’re not. That’s one of the reasons why you have so much to say and say it so well!
