My Upcoming Book, The Primal Lullaby Video, and Guest Posts

A couple of things that are in the making and soon to be complete almost simultaneously are my first book and my first album.

I don’t just write words, I write music too! The album is just inches away from release.

It was tough to decide what to write my first book about, but I decided to go with pregnancy. Some cheers, some boos, I know.

Hush Little Baby – The Primal Lullaby

In the meantime you can listen to a cute little song I wrote for my daughter when she was a baby. She’s 5 ½  now and I still sing this song to her almost every night. It’s my own rendition of Hush Little Baby which I re-titled The Primal Lullaby. I never liked the original because the lyrics are totally pro-consumer, so I re-wrote them.

Since I thought some of your babies might get a kick out of it I adapted some piano for it a couple of days ago and recorded a little video. Enjoy.

Hush little baby don’t say a word
momma’s going to catch you a mocking bird
don’t sing
momma’s going to catch you a lion king
don’t roar
momma’s going to catch you a wild boarHush little baby don’t say a word
momma’s going to catch you a wiggle worm
don’t move
momma’s going to catch you a kangaroo
don’t bounce
momma’s going to catch you a  field mouseHush little baby don’t make a peep
momma’s going to catch you a big horn sheep
don’t climb
momma’s going to catch you a porcupine
too sharp
momma’s going to catch you a great white shark

Hush little baby falling asleep
momma’s going to catch you a furry mink
if his coat’s too big for you
momma’s going to catch you a saber tooth
extinct
momma’s going to catch you a mountain lynx
don’t breed no more
momma’s not going to sing no more…

Guest Posts

I’ve been busy with guests posts this week. For the Primal Toad I revised my PCOS article and eliminated most of the personal mumbo jumbo. So, for anybody needing a more technical, less personal article to pass on to friends check that out here. That went up on Monday. By Wednessday the article got picked up by Sign of The Times on their Best of the Web section so that’s wicked cool.

Then I wrote a piece for Naturally Knocked Up. This one is a little bit PCOSy too but it also goes into a few more annoying afflictions of my past.

That’s it for now. This is a weekend for big projects so I’ll be saving the post about poop for Wednesday – hope you all don’t mind too much. I know how eagerly you await reading about defecating. Have a great weekend!

  1. you have an amazing voice, I loved the lyrics!!

  2. Could you give us/me the lyrics? I love hearing your voice and the piano but I find that I am a person who hears the sounds of it all and can’t seem to focus on the words without them in front of me. Maybe that’s why I always focused on pitch in choir… Thanks!!

  3. Yay! Another book for the community! Let’s keep them coming! I have ideas for about a dozen or more books :) I’ve got time!

Beautiful voice! I LOVE the lyrics!! Are all songs in your album going to have the same theme? I may sell you a million copies ;)

    • As soon as I finish this book I’ll be moving on to the next. My mind never stops with the ideas!

Thanks Todd! The music on my album is NOTHING like this. I write songs for my daughter all the time but my serious music is another thing. It’s really intense, weird, and thoughtful. I’ve just put a few songs up on my website today. Let me know what you think! http://primalpeg.com

  4. I am looking forwars to your book as I am trying to conceive my second child! Is it going to be an e-book? If not, I hope it is available for international shipping!

  6. I am actually super psyched your first book will be on pregnancy. I want to be pregnant again…. yesterday. Hopefully it will be soon. This will be my first pregnancy since paleo so your timing (for me) is excellent :) Yay!

  7. I can’t WAIT for your book!!

  8. wow thats lovely!

  9. really looking forward to your book!

  10. Love those lyrics! That’s what I hum when I nurse my 9 month old to sleep. I usually ad-lib lyrics until he falls asleep.

    • That’s how those lyrics got their start. I just sang the”hush little baby” part and hummed the rest, and then, you know how you’re sometimes just sitting there doing nothing for what seems like forever when they nurse and then fall asleep in your arms and you just stare at them endlessly? That’s when I would just start singing nonsense, until sometime down the road I had this ridiculously long song.

  11. So great that you’re writing a book:) Also, I read your article on “naturally knocked up”, and it was so revealing, such an eye opener, incredible…it happens always with anything you write, so many emotions came out, that I cried. Reading something like that, being exactly the same as my life altogether.it left me speechless…but happy! that finally you gave me some answers ans you gave me strenght to live! thank you Peggy!

  12. Consider to include some of your favourite recipes from your pregnancy! That would be a great bonus!

  13. Is you book going to be published this year? I`d love to give it to my pregnant friend for Christmas!

    • fraid not. I got a book deal and so now it’s set out for summer. But the upside is, it’s going to be a way better book than I could have put out on my own.

It’s the kind of book, however, which will be great for pregnant and postpartum women.
